TAGAP will return – and it will be a little different this time around.
In August 2006 International Astronomical Union defined what a planet is, effectively stripping Pluto from its planetary rank. Little did IAU board realize that doing so would lead to the end of the world as we know it. Pluto is inhabited, you see, by cosmic green penguins, who aren't happy about the lack of galactic respect. No, led by the grand Funky Warlord, they declare a war on planet Earth – and only one fluffy bird stands in their way. And that is Pablo, the cybernetic battle-penguin!
Abducted from Antarctica and locked in a cell deep inside the weaponized Pluto itself, Pablo must escape, find out what is going on, make new friends and maim hell-of-a-lot of new enemies. What follows is a brand new TAGAP adventure – this time resembling a crossover between classic TAGAP and Metroidvania; More Pablo knows and better equipped he is, more of the mystery and the Pluto he can uncover.
What was originally planned to be a four-part story arc, TAGAP 3 goes for grand finale and combines the last two intended chapters into one, epic conclusion. More story-driven than ever before, all loose ends are tied together and many questions are answered.
TAGAP 3 runs on a brand new engine built for High-Definition 2-D gaming, featuring many modern niceties like procedural skeletal animation systems, shaders and the like. The MOD support has been expanded even further as well, this time letting the user modify all those objects that used to be defined in-engine.
TAGAP 3 will be released for Windows platforms once it's ready. This game is the developer Penguin DT's most ambitious project to date and no timeframe is set in stone yet. Still, while waiting for this HD penguin epoch it's the perfect time to check out the 2011 wonder TAGAP 2 or the original TAGAP: The Apocalyptic Game About Penguins, both available for free at TAGAP website (www.tagap.net)
About Penguin DT
Penguin DT is essentially a duo of semi-pro Finnish game developers Jouni Lahtinen (programming, art, design, sfx) and Petja Heiskanen (music, design, sfx), with extra help contributed by friends, fans and supporters. The duo's first game TAGAP: The Apocalyptic Game About Penguins turned out to be a small cult-hit in 2007, TAGAP 2 seemes to be following suit. TAGAP 3 Penguin DT's biggest and most ambitious project yet, with the budget and production values doubled to the previous titles.
