This week it's a new kind of entry; the first featured penguin DVD. We start of with something really unique – Avenger Penguins!

The bottom line of the show may sound familiar; its about three bad-ass penguins, on a mission to stop an evil scientist from taking over the world. And it gets better, as the insane bad guy is called Doom. And no, didn't hear about this show until this summer, but after reading the description of IMDb I just had to get it. Luckily the entire series is available as one 3-DVD boxed set.

Should you get it? It depends – it's a definite cult classic, but also requires that you either was a kid in late-80s-to-early-90s or for some other bizarre reason love toons of the era. The show often pokes fun at the genre clichés and in general features the same simplified super-hero characteristics, albeit with unique twists and loads of humor. Avenger Penguins is from the Cosgrove Hall Films, the creative minds behind the more famous Count Duckula series, so if you loved that one you're bound to like this, too.
