Weekly Penguin

Weekly Penguin 137

It's Cobblepot time! The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told: Volume 2 (despite the title, it's the third book in the series) compiles the greatest Penguin and Catwoman stories in one, comprehensive package. From the very first appearances (in case of Penguin, Detective Comics #58, December 1941) to the interesting off-shoots like 'Love Bird'. I strongly recommend picking this one up, it's classic golden era DC comics all the way through. And you just got to love that Bob Kane artwork!

By the way, it's interesting to note that while the Penguin has remained the same waddling crime lord from the beginning, Catwoman has been an ever-changing character. For example, in her first story she wasn't the modern super-villain as we know her now, but a beautiful thief known simply as The Cat. She had no skin-tight leather costume, a whip, or any of the modern trademarks of the character, just her greed for jewelry and master skills of deception.
