I promised you folks hadn't seen the last of Frobisher the Whifferdill, and here he is again. On July 1st Big Finish Productions, the awesome production house behind the renowned Classic Doctor Who audio dramas, held a special sale day and decided to give these dramas a try. It was a good news / bad news kind of deal; yes, the dramas are absolutely brilliant. And yes, now I'm hooked for life to these as well. Farewell, life savings.

First up from Frobisher's audio adventure is The Maltese Penguin, a spin-off special starring Colin Baker as The Doctor and Robert Jezek as Frobisher. Like most of the Frobisher-related audio plays, this is a more lighthearted affair. Frobisher is, after years of traveling with The Doctor, trying to re-establish himself as the private eye he once was and after three weeks boozing, his femme fatale finally walks through the door – and the more Douglas Adams-esque penguin-noir tale ensues.
