This week it's the long-overdue addition of the first Madagascar movie. While the famous penguins are only in supporting role here, they left so big an impression to every viewer that their own spin-off adventures were just inevitable. The commando penguin gang are easily the most entertaining supporting characters in ages.

But wait, the movie itself is excellent as well. Unlike the by-the-numbers sequel, the first Madagascar features loads of clever jokes and thought-provoking ideas for an animated blockbuster – like the difficulties animals encounter when returning to the wild after years spent in zoo. That is, if you can see the ideas from all the penguin mischief.

The DVD release also comes with the first Madagascar Penguins solo effort and a commentary track by the penguin gang themselves.
