Weekly Penguin

Weekly Penguin 288

March 7th, 2013

Unfortunately this project failed to reach the goal and was effectively cancelled. Sadness 😞

Now, this week's penguin is something very different – in many aspects. For one, it's about a product not yet released!

Fuzzy Slaughter is a potentially-upcoming co-op-centric beat 'em up from Triptych Games and it's currently raising funds on Kickstarter. The game is essentially a thematic distant cousin of TAGAP, only in a different genre; a group of genetically engineered cute critters, including Peppie the Penguin, have had enough with PITA! Sandwich cute-meat breeding program. It's time to bust out of the labs, grab some friends, and wreak havoc on the murder machines. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Not only is the game itself sounding something right up my alley with penguins and bloodshed, but it also happens to be the first original IP project from Triptych Games. For those not-in-the-know, so to speak, Triptych was formed from the ashes of 3D Realms and so far they've been contributing heavily on Gearbox Software projects, including Duke Nukem Forever and Borderlands 2 DLC. Also, one of the folks on board happens to be Allen Blum, co-creator of Duke Nukem franchise!

This project is not affiliated with TAGAP in any way and I'm not one to do advertising, but honestly it sounds so great I just have to raise awareness for the project. I mean we're talking about an insanely cool-looking co-op beat 'em up with carnage, cute critters and penguins, all from the folks behind the latest shenanigans of Duke Nukem and Claptrap! The project needs to rise 50 000 USD by March 6th, so if you're interested in pledging, head to Kickstarter.

Also worth addressing; while I have restricted Weekly Penguin to feature only the stuff in my personal collection, me getting the Fuzzy Slaughter goodies depends on the project succeeding, so it's a catch 22 I'm willing to compromise on.
