Last week I featured GoGo Penguin's fifth album, 'GoGo Penguin' and mentioned it was my introduction to the band. Well, naturally I immediately went looking 'what have these folks done in the past', landing me on their fourth album, 'A Humdrum Star'.

Interestingly, in comparison 'A Humdrum Star' has both a more organic and at times more electronic sound to it – there are moments when among the tranquillity I'm reminded of some of the more chill ambient tracks of Nine Inch Nails. The focus is still on juxtaposition of the piano melodies and the rhythm, but there's a different, ethereal quality to it.

Again, I strongly recommend looking GoGo Penguin up on the music-platform-of-your-choice, followed by an album shopping spree so the band actually gets paid. 😉
