Weekly Penguin

Weekly Penguin 915

Long overdue catch up with my penguin library. Let's start with a special one; The Littlest Penguin: and the Phillip Island Penguin Parade released last year. It is commissioned by The Penguin Foundation – the forefront nature conservation and research fund for Philip Island, the most famous home of the Little Penguins.

The book is written by Michelle Madden, illustrated by Jedda Robaard and published by – who else – Penguin Books Australia.

This hardcover book is both fiction and non-fiction. The main portion is a fully illustrated coming-of-age story of Little Penguin, Scruffy, Cheeky and Big Chick as they go out to sea for the first time. In itself the story is brilliant – it's every bit is heart-warming as you'd imagine, but also accurate with the facts.

In addition to the illustrated story, the book also features a meaty non-fiction chapter that works as a one-stop shop for everything you'd wish to know about the real Little Penguins, the Philip Island they call home and the world-famous Penguin Parade.

Huge thank you again to my penguin spotting friend Rokki Muzik-Smith for this one!
