As you might've guessed, Ufouria: The Saga 2 is a double-feature on the Weekly Penguin arena. Last week it was the game and now it's the turn of its soundtrack. This one was bundled with the limited Deluxe Edition of the physical version – courtesy of Red Art Games.
The album itself is a double feature as well, featuring the complete soundtracks of both the new game as well as the original Ufouria – with bonus prototype tracks. This is not only nice gesture, but really makes the album more interesting. As the game, the soundtrack, too is a modern rendition of the original. Closer to a remix album, if you will – thus having both versions almost side-by-side is great.
And if you're fan of the original soundtrack and are worried about modernisations, don't be. It's very tastefully done – the changes are more about adding more depth to the sound mix. NES sound chip wasn't exactly known for bass, for example.
My only complaint about the album is that it doesn't list composers or arrangers anywhere. The composers of the original soundtrack are credited, in the game, as Nobuyuki Hara, Shinichi Seya, and Naoki Kodaka, but sadly there's no mention of who did the brilliant remixes.
