The most epic Weekly Penguin we'll likely ever going to have

To put it short; In November we got to meet not only some of The Doctors, but Jack and Ricky as well. And who are they? Well, the video speaks for itself, though I'd recommend checking out the details either in our Weekly Penguin feature, or in the YouTube video description.

There is no better way to end 2013, now is there?

Happy New Year, everyone! Especially you two, Jack and Ricky!

Happy Birthday, DOOM!

DOOM anniversary Weekly Penguin

It's been only a couple of weeks and it's time for another anniversary that has to be celebrated; id Software's DOOM turns 20 years old today! And since this coincides with our Weekly Penguin Tuesday, we just have to create a special wallpaper for the occasion, bringing together the originators of TAGAP; The one-and-only Funky Penguin and DOOM!

Happy 20th Anniversary, DOOM! Let's hope we'll see your return soon enough!

Happy Birthday, Doctor Who!

April 25th, 2014

Now all these Eleven Penguin Doctors have their own, separate wallpapers available in the Penguin Downloads section.

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary

If you've been following this site these past years, two things should be pretty clear by know; Penguin DT is seriously into penguins and Doctor Who. And now the latter is about to hit an epic benchmark by turning 50 years old next Saturday, November 23rd.

And how to celebrate this momentous occasion? Why, by creating a special artwork, of course! Perhaps the biggest digital art project I've ever done outside TAGAP, here comes The Eleven Penguin Doctors. For more detailed look on the artwork and 'Who's Who' within it, check out this week's Weekly Penguin entry.

Considering how great the artwork turned out, naturally we've turned it into cool little downloads, from full-range of wallpapers to brand new buddy icons – there's no better way of showcasing your love for penguins and The Doctor than sporting these around the Interwebs.

But more than anything, this artwork is our way of giving our heartfelt thanks to BBC, Big Finish Productions and all the Doctors; Thank you for keeping The Doctor alive, vital and ever-so-inspiring. Without 'the madman with a box' the world would be a lot duller place.

Happy 50th Anniversary, Doctor! And a toast for another 50 years to follow!

Welcome to TAGAP.net v4.0!

TAGAP website has been upgraded to version 4.0, perhaps the biggest overhaul this site has gone through since we launched in 2007. The new site is slick, faster and in general more modern and up with the times.

TAGAP.net v4.0

  1. Content – The important stuff is here. Like the stuff you're just reading.

  2. Sections – Select the main section of the site.

  3. Tabs – Each section is divided into tabs, just like almost every Windows program you know.

  4. Weekly Penguin – The icon in the corner features the most recent Weekly Penguin and clicking the image takes you to my seemingly never-ending penguin collection. This section of the site is updated, like the name says, on a weekly basis.

5. Sharing options – Share the current page on Twitter, Facebook or Google+.

  6. Side bar – Quick links, additional information and alike go here. For example, our blog and Twitter are shown here on the front page.

To learn more about the website overhaul and changes, please refer to our latest blog post. The blog also delves into the matter of forums being shut down as well as gives you another TAGAP 3 progress update. And this is November 2013, after all, so naturally Doctor Who gets mentioned.

This overhaul being so big and complex we're bound to hit a snafu or two in the process, so if you stumble onto something that doesn't work, please let us know.

First ever metal concert... on Antarctica

April 20th, 2019

The full concert has since been uploaded to the official Metallica YouTube channel:

Non-TAGAP Antarctic news, so to put it short; Metallica will perform an exclusive concert on Antarctica. No big band has done this before, ever. In addition the extremely hostile conditions, the place is highly protected, so not just anyone would be allowed to do it.

Speaking of protection, fear not, this is not a case of a band exploiting nature for PR, but actually a co-operative thing. Great care has been taken not to spoil the last untouched place on Earth, to the point the attendees will listen to the concert via headphones. Additionally, the Carlini Argentine Base hosting the gig will receive hefty amounts of equipment donated by the band and the participating partner Coca Cola.

You can't buy tickets for this legendary exclusive event – and you can't even win them unless you happen to live in the South America. But hey, if you do, you lucky sod, head to Metallica's official site and follow instructions to participate. Actually, I'm kind-of glad I can't buy the tickets, as I would've set up a tent outside the ticket office already.

This news popped up earlier, but I actually dismissed it as nonsense; No way something this cool – no pun intended – could actually happen. But hey, it's actually true, so here we go!

World Penguin Day!

25th of April is also known as, yes, The World Penguin Day! So, remember to something penguin-like, whether it's playing some TAGAP 2, learning penguin facts or dressing up as one and waddling the streets!

Also, there no better day to help out our flightless friends. For this very occasion Greenpeace has put up a good article about what we can do – and an official petition aiming to improve protection of Antarctic marine life, including penguins. The goal of the petition is to get CCAMLR to establish a large-scale network of marine protected areas and no-take marine reserves to protect Antarctic's key ocean habitats... while we still can.

To sign the petition, just head to Greenpeace website and follow the instructions. And of course, spreading the word helps too!

And don't forget; Have a wonderfully waddling World Penguin Day!

Weekly Penguin returns

Like you've likely noticed, Weekly Penguin was nowhere to be seen last week, for which I am very sorry. The reason for this was very simple; My appendix. Yep, I spent the weekend-before-last in a hospital and got home on the following Tuesday. I was, obviously, so exhausted from it all I didn't have it in me to create the weekly penguin greatness. My official apology for that, dear penguin friends.

This is the biggest downside of being both the publicist and the developer; When I go down for count, so does almost everything TAGAP related on both website and game creation front. Don't worry, I'm picking myself up step-by-step post-surgery.

And fear not, Weekly Penguin has returned!

David Tennant spying on penguins

April 9th, 2013

And now the show gets featured as the Weekly Penguin!

February 28th, 2013

Since in the original post I wished for BBC to release the series on DVD as soon as possible, I'm glad to inform you folks that the box set is on the way, aiming for April 8th release in the UK. Hurray!

As always, when penguin things happen, we want to report it!

Produced by John Powder Productions, BBC's brand new series Penguins: Spy in the Huddle spends nearly a year in the close company of penguins, deploying 50 spycams to capture as never before the true character of these birds. This is achieved via animatronic robot penguin cameras designed to silently infiltrate the colonies to record the penguins' behaviour.

And as if penguin spy-craft via infiltrator robots wasn't awesome enough, the series is narrated by the one and only David Tennant. This sounds so brilliant I honestly don't know how we, as human race, can top it.

The first episode of the show airs on BBC1 this week and I sincerely hope the series will arrive on DVD/BluRay in not-too-distant future.

New year, new stuff!

Happy New Year 2013! Coincidentally the first day of this year is also a Tuesday, which means we start 2013 with a Weekly Penguin. This week we have a Penguin Imposter, also available as a wallpaper.

Also, we just recently registered our SoundCloud account and to celebrate, we're kicking things off starting with the recently-premiered 'Funky Penguin (2012 Xmas Mix)' by, naturally, Petja Heiskanen.

We are planning to gradually move at least TAGAP 2 soundtrack to be downloadable and streamed from SoundCloud because, well, why not? It's YouTube for audio, isn't it?
